Introduction

My Mission: Be a Role Model in Family and Society by Uplifting and Empowering others to make their Lives Happy in the context of Love and Joy.

Objective: UPLIFT TALENTED POOR AND SPONSORSHIP FOR 4 YEARS ENGINEERING EDUCATION. EVERY SUCCESSFUL STUDENT SHOULD SPONSOR 2 MORE STUDENTS UPON GETTING A GOOD JOB - TO MAKE A STRONG CHAIN.

Background: When I was studying MBA in Pune in 1989, there were lot of talented poor students who could not afford to study for higher studies and settled for middle class life. I used to think that why every educated person can sponsor one talented poor student so that country becomes a better place to live. My subconcious mind still working on that thought and the below action is the result of that.

Action: Last year(2007) we have done a detailed study and identified 4 Talented Poor students from our village Salur in Andhra Pradesh to make a begining, with the help of few collegues, friends and started sponsoring them. I have committed for 2 students and my friends in Singapore Tondapi Harnath, Repaka Ravikiran have joined with me. (So our commitment for these students is Rs.8 lakhs (Approx.) for next 4 yrs).

Selection Criteria:
TALENT: Students who have achieved an average 90% in both 10th class and Intermediate (+2)
POOR: Family income of less than 25,000 per annum and a networth not more than 2 lakhs.

Students Commitment:

1) Once they complete engineering and get a job they should sponsor 2 more students of talented poor and this chain should continue throughout the country (Moral commitment in writing. No legal binding on students)

2) All students who get sponsorship should score more than 90% every year in their academics to get continous sponsorship. If the college highest score is less than 90%, students should be in top 3 in the college or their class.

Note: Idea is to make them responsible students and do good in their academics and get a respectable job on their own. Individual review will be done yearly. My role is to motivate students continously by phone/emails/letters and in person wherever possible.

Future: I would like to take up this concept in a Bigger way Nationwide that anyone can sponsor any Talented Poor student at any place and their detials (both sponsorer and sponsoree) will be puplished in our website coming shortly. It is like sowing an education seed. Sponsorer will be a root and the sponsoree will be the branches of the tree. All sponsorers can pay fees money directly to the respective colleges and miscelleous expenses to students.

Purama Mallikarjun Rao

My name is Purama Mallikarjun Rao born in Salur, Andhra Pradesh. In 1984, 24 yrs back I was a small boy working as a mechanic in our own garage to support our big family and make a living. At that time future was faded, No clear Goals, proper direction, major motivation, and financial stability. Big family with 7 brothers and 2 sisters and father was a driver. Life was not simple and I planned to do Engineering in Pune by paying annual fee of Rs. 17, 000/-. My father refused due to high cost of education, with result of it managed to join B.com in Salur Degree College and supporting our family business.

However, my burning desire for education, good job and making a difference for self, family, society has not stopped there. I convinced my father and left to Pune in 1989 to do my MBA and there was no reversal from there. Passed MBA in 1991 and got a job for Rs.4100 per month. Started career with that salary and proud to reach a position to sponsor students for 4 years. My journey in the last 20 years was not smooth; it involved lot of Hard work, Discipline and Desire to win. Many say I am lucky!!! but I would say it is 1% Inspiration and 99% perspiration.
One of my goals:
I missed my Engineering, so what? Decided to make Engineering graduates 2 Talented Poor students and sponsor for Engineering Graduation for 4 years. In next 20 years I should be able to make 10 such Good Engineers. (For every 4 years 2 students, so 5x2 = 10)

Objectives of sponsorship:
  • Make talented engineers, in turn each student after successful graduation and should sponsor for another 2 talented poor students. This makes 30 engineers in 20 years. Likewise, the number should keep on growing..... My humble request for all the young students not to break this chain and make this world a better place to live.
  • Gratitude to the country I was born and want to do in this form.
  • Will take this IDEA in a bigger way Nationwide and create a website to recognise sponsorers and motivate the young generation who are the future of this country. (Youth is not 100% of country's population but youth is 100% of Country's future - Read in a book)
